    Been awhile....

Haven't posted lately because there hasn't been much to report. Pat and Kristin broke up awhile ago, so it caused some mixed feelings on the team. Pat's injury forced him to mess with his style a bit, finally he settled on a 10# house ball that lets him hook the way he was with his 16# ball without disturbing his carpel tunnel (sp?).

He also realized that I will NEVER deliver a ball like he does, but I am pleased to report that I do finally have a hook. Morich's Labyrinth is a great ball...for nice and oily lanes. My scores went from 90's and 100's to 150's and 160's with a high score 168 so far.

My wife is tired of bowling and swearing she will not bowl at all next year. 33 weeks vs the same 5 teams does wear on one, plus she works Sundays, so it sucks to come home at 5 to rush to the alley to start bowling at 5:45. Her scores have consistantly been around 100, but she has no control. It bums her out, which in turn bums me out to see her struggle.

We finally won multiple games (and took a pinfall) for the first time since January. We are currently 17 games out of 5th place (translation: dead last) with 2 weeks to play: this week vs Pro Bowler and next week vs the 5th place team. 2 weeks and a banquet at the beginning of may... then on to Golf season.

    Trying more new things....

Losers of 20 something games in a row, we are looking for a spark. ANY spark.

I went with my Ebonite Gyro Pro, hoping to get my hook rolling better. No dice. But I toyed with a delivery I found worked last week and bowled a nice (for me recently) 129. During the first game, I thought of some advice I had gotten... if you are going to go straight, don't come in straight on, but at an angle. So I went to the furthest right I could go and came in. Second game was a 162... my second best of the season in league play.

Of course, there is always a third game. I don't know if it was fatigue, or the fact the KISS music I had in my head stopped, or I was wondering how the Chargers were doing, but I noticed my delivery was changing a bit. I bowled a whopping 106. We split the night because their anchor got red hot and bowled a 160 something. We lost the third game and the pinfall total. But we did take 2, so our incredible losing streak is finally over. 5th place was just 4 games ahead of us. After tonight, I think they still are because they took 2 (as of when we left) from the 2nd place team.

Lots of bowling yet to play. Only 21 out of first. :)
